MCA and MTAS: How many Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Public School District students took their Reading tests in 2021-22 school year?

Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Public School District ranked 10th in the Stearns County for test participation, with 208 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 22.4% over the previous year.

Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 48% in 2021-22 school year.

Third grade students stood out with 13% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, fourth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 61% not meeting the expected standards.

Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Public School District encompasses schools within Stearns County and has a main office in Belgrade.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.
